Staffing Changes at Canyon Cinema

Posted March 9th, 2020 in Announcements, News / Events

After nearly five years at the helm and seven with the organization, Canyon Cinema Foundation’s Director Antonella Bonfanti will step away from her position effective April 3, 2020.

“Serving Canyon’s community, especially the filmmakers who trust us to care for and distribute their work, has been a deeply enriching experience. I will forever be grateful for this unique opportunity to steward such an extraordinary organization.” says Bonfanti.

During her tenure as Director, Bonfanti led Canyon Cinema’s dedicated staff, board and volunteers to expand and improve services for filmmakers, ignite new interest in the collection through expanded public programming and partnerships; and celebrated Canyon’s 50th Anniversary as a distributor at 40+ venues across the United States and internationally.

She will not be venturing far. Starting in mid-April, Bonfanti will join the staff at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive as the Film Collection Supervisor. After her employment concludes with Canyon Cinema she will work with Board of Directors to help shepherd the organization into its next phase and participate in the hiring committee to select the next Director.  During this transition Canyon Cinema’s Collection Manager, Seth Mitter, will step into the Interim Director position to oversee daily operations and the distribution program.

For those interested in the Director position, Canyon Cinema is now accepting applications. Details about this opportunity and how to apply can be found here: http://canyoncinema.com/wp-content/uploads/JD-Director.pdf. This position will remain open until filled, first review is March 20th.
