Earl Bodien

Earl Bodien was Canyon Cinema distribution's first manager. His service began in 1966, when he began to handle the business of renting Canyon prints from within the living room of his and Marry Anne Bodien#s small apartment. Don Lloyd remembers, "For a while, each renter would receive a two or three paragraph letter from Earl concerning his or her rental. Earl had a talent for knowing who to trust and who to extend credit to, and where to draw the line to stop bending over backwards; this of course established a very good reputation for us." (MacDonald, Canyon Cinema: The Life and Times of an Independent Film Distributor, p. 157) Earl Bodien resigned as manager in 1967 and the Bodiens left for the Midwest in July.
