This expanded cinema collaboration is a trip to the astral plane to encounter dissatisfied ghosts. The piece is made from ancestral film remnants from the bottom of university trim bins and from the Prelinger Archive's castoff materials. These excess bits of the broader cultural imagination circulate, unmoored, looking for meaning, belonging, or vengeance. Instructions from Ancestors is part of my continued work in dual-projection stereoscope, which here allows an exploration of the impossible coexistence of multi-consciousness, both in spirit and in cinema. With a lyrical, transportive composition created by experimental sound artist Derek Gedalecia.
Filmmaker: Greta Snider
Sound Design: Derek Gedalecia
Note: This dual projection film requires a sliver 3D type exhibition screen. The film rental comes with linear polarizing filters for projectors, and audience polarizing glasses. Sound is played on a separate file.
