Vivo No Existo (Grecas), a looped video installation, is part of a body of work where I investigate themes of weightlessness, mass, and space and how these themes function in contemporary settings. Video for me, as a formal artistic medium, is more a temporal art rather than only a visual art. The piece was made originally for a gallery or museum space and was the submission to several experimental and art film festivals and the "Entijuanarte Biennial 2011, Tijuana-Mexico" official selection. It screened at the iconic Tijuana CECUT Cultural Center building as an attempt to alter -- slow down or speed -- time in a fast-paced violent Mexican city, as an attempt to show how art can function as part of a much bigger system.
Production format: SD Video
Projection note: Vivo no Existo (Grecas) is a video installation intended for a looping or repetitive mode playback.
