Canyon Cinema Foundation achieves 501(c)(3) status!

Posted July 31st, 2014 in News / Events

Canyon Cinema Foundation is pleased to announce it has achieved Federal 501(c)(3) status. We would like to thank the large team who has made this possible: staff, our filmmakers and community, Board Members past and present and our pro-bono legal team at Fenwick & West. In our time of need, many organizations, individuals and institutions have generously contributed to the cause via the Support Fund program or of their own accord. Supporters of Canyon can be found on our website:

As a nonprofit Canyon is now eligible for foundational, state and federal support for vital projects and initiatives that will increase our focus on informing and educating the public about films and filmmakers, bringing artists the attention and cultural value they deserve. We are continuing to pursue opportunities for screenings, preservation, archiving and scholarly research and are considering additional avenues for making work digitally available.

Canyon now joins other major nonprofit sources of non-commercial, experimental and artist-made film–including Filmmakers Co-op in New York, Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre in Toronto, Light Cone in Paris, sixpackfilm in Vienna and LUX in London.

Donations to Canyon Cinema Foundation are tax-deductible under section 170 of the Code and can be made directly via our website:
