This film was shot during a ten-day whirlwind tour of Egypt with my mother in December, 1977. The film found its character during filming - my common preconceptions of the ancient place mixed with a strange cynicism for the reluctant Egyptian hosts. The film's structure follows the satirical aspect of a travelogue blended with the awe and inspiration of a mystical acid trip. For me, the film serves as a visualization of images reminiscent of memory. In the end, you are brought back, reminded of your enlightened experience: Now you are an Egyptologist!
